Shades of Grey

by David Compton & Marion Whelan

Thursday, 07 June 2012 - Saturday, 09 June 2012

The Spread Eagle Players are proud to present two one act plays, Incident by David Compton, and Personal Call by Marion Whelan.

Incident by David Compton is a satirical drama that explores the arbitray nature of discrimination. Two women arrive at a village hotel after a long hike, only to discover that one of them is not welcome. Attempting to resolve the situation exposes the many layers of prejudice present in both the narrow minded and also those who are more enlightened.

Personal Call by Marion Whelan is a clever and subtle comedy that playfully highlights the absurdity of racial ignorance and xenophobia. Nurse Kay Watson, on leave from South Africa, visits her colleague Peter's sister in order to convince Angela, Peter's fiancee, to go and live with him. She faces an implacable hurdle in Angela's controlling mother.
